Pointillism Animals inspired by Georges Seurat!

In Miss Church's studio art class students are learning about pointillism. Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism.

Treehouses

The art department hallway is filled with colorful treehouses!

Color Harmony Project

Students in Mr. Boccini's Studio Art classes explored different color schemes and repetition of a pattern. Each student created a simple 3x3 inch design. The design was then repeated 12 times using the following patterns.

Each group of four images then was painted using a different color scheme.
  • Complimentary
  • Triadic
  • Split Complimentary
  • Analogous

One color had to be carried throughout the artwork. Tempera paint was used for these images. Some students added black "Sharpie" to create emphasis or shadow in their work.

MOST TWO POINT PERSPECTIVE

In Mrs. Breidenbach's studio art class students recreated Frank Loyd Wright houses in two point persective.  They then learned how to blend and wash watercolors to produce a vibrant final piece.
Some of these fantastic art pieces are displayed at the Mahopac Public Library on Route 6.  Support the arts and visit the library gallary!
